Turning the Page is a youth-led nonprofit sharing the joy of reading through book donations to under-resourced elementary schools across the United States. We’re a network of student leaders and volunteers who believe every child deserves a shelf full of stories.

Turning the Page is 100% student-powered! It was founded by a student at Saint Ann’s School in Brooklyn, NY, and has grown through the passion and leadership of students across the country—from middle schoolers to college students.
Our headquarters team in Brooklyn helps coordinate chapters nationwide, run mentorship programs, and build partnerships with schools.

Most of our leaders are in high school or college—but we welcome volunteers of all ages who want to help distribute books, run events, or spread the word. Leadership roles (Chapter Leader and Regional Director) are typically for high school and college students.

We collect gently used or new books for elementary school readers, including: picture books for early readers, chapter books (grades K–5 level), and gently-used elementary resources. If you have other types of books, feel free to email us and we’ll let you know if we can place them.

Donated books go directly to under-resourced elementary schools, libraries, and community centers across the country. Each chapter partners with local schools in their area.

Regional Directors help oversee multiple chapters in a geographic area. They support new chapter leaders, coordinate large-scale book drives, and help build partnerships with schools and community organizations. If you're ready for a bigger leadership challenge, this is for you.
